The history of De Maio company began two centuries ago, when the progenitor Giovanni De Maio of Ogliara in Salerno began his business activity with the processing of clay bricks. Ogliara, a historic place for the processing of terracotta, is an eighteenth-century village on the slopes of Mount Stella, which stands out over Salerno Gulf and Amalfi Coast.

Since the 1950s, Giovanni De Maio has been a symbol of Vietri artistic ceramics, with a forward-looking entrepreneurial mindset in the creation of ceramic surfaces that aim for high-quality and customized technical and aesthetic performances.

In the 1980s, the heir of the family, Domenico De Maio, together with his three sons, Giovanni, Elio and Antonio, founded a new factory in Fisciano, which still today is the company’s headquarters.
